Lot Six

Last week my work was featured on Lot Six.

Lot Six is a global society of storytellers that is dedicated to creating vast and refreshing stories that educate, inspire and entertain. The Society is made up of artists, designers, journalists, filmmakers, corporate brands and other types of "storytellers" that share similar interests and wish to use those shared interests to create coordinated experiences.

Lot Six is a movement that celebrates creative ingenuity and artistic expression in all of their glorious shapes, forms and fashions. The people and brands that make up the Lot Six community understand the implications of co-authorship and the impact collaborations will have on the experiences they create.  As a result, the Lot Six ecosystem is made up of content creators who stand ready to push the boundaries of their own creative pursuits by helping you with yours.

Exciting things that happened last week - part 2

My friend Jane curated a fantastic exhibition at Gallery Six/The Brick Lane Gallery. Read about it here in Design WeekJane was diagnosed with breast cancer last year aged 35 & has now completed chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She has used her experience and design expertise to set up the charity Hello Beautiful and this exhibition was the first of many exciting events to come!

My book 'The Boy Who Lost His Bumble' is soon to be published by Child's Play (well, in 2014). Here he is hanging out at the Frankfurt Book fair (in the top left corner of the pic)...

Tales of Mood and Memory

My work has been Highly Commended in the Cheltenham Illustration Awards Emerging Talent category.

Illustrators were invited to submit entries on the theme of ‘Mood and Memory’ with an emphasis on narrative illustration. The brief was to create a personal, visual response initiated by Holst's symphony The Planets. Holst imbued each planet with characteristics which were representative of the human life cycle, from youth to old age, beginning with Mars, energetic and bombastic, ending with esoteric Neptune, alone, facing the mystical unknown.

The work will be exhibited in October as part of the Times Cheltenham Literature Festival, 4 -13 October 2013 in association with the Holst Birthplace Museum.

Through a Hedge Backwards

There is absolutely no excuse for my tardiness (other than Bumble Bees), but hurrah! Here are my 3 drawings documenting my journey to work. Becky set me this task many moons ago for our Through a Hedge Backwards blog. Let's hope she is quicker off the mark than me this time. Becky, your task is to draw 3 things beginning with B! From observation of course :)

Postcard Auction update

Wow, the Hello Beautiful Postcard Auction was a great success. We raised in excess of £1000 (and still counting) for my friend Jane's charity, Hello Beautiful. My deepest thanks to everyone who was involved. Especially to the wonderful artists who gave their time and talent to this, and to all those who came on the night or bid from afar. It wouldn't have been possible without you. Here's a few pics from the night...

Great work by Calligraphuck.

Bids increasing by the minute :)

The raffle. Thanks to Risosaurus and Richard Chambury for their donations.

Perusing the work...

Boobie cakes from Kim Bevan :)

And finally Jane, (and Kevin) the founder of the charity Hello Beautiful. Her creativity, courage and positive attitude in her fight against breast cancer were the inspiration for this exhibition.
