The Boy Who Lost His Bumble Book Launch!

It's been rather a long time since I posted on my blog, but I have some very exciting news to share! 'The Boy Who Lost His Bumble' was published at the end of September by the lovely Child's Play and Saturday was the official #BumbleBoy launch party at Children's at Heffers in Cambridge. LOTS of people, both big and small came along and enjoyed cake, stories and making deeply boppers!

THANK YOU to all of my amazing family and friends who came along to support me. This book is for all of you, but especially for Charles and Rich who inspire me every day. Big thanks also to Children's at Heffers for letting me host the event there and for all their help on the day. To Love and Cake who made the incredible Bumble Bee cup cakes and last but definitely not least, thank you to my wonderful publisher Child's Play, for helping make my dreams a reality.

Below are a few pics from the event but even better, you can also view the whole album here. All taken by the super talented Richard Chambury.

What about me? Put yourself in the picture

I was very happy to be asked to be part of an Inclusive Minds workshop at the Imagine Children's Festival during half term. It was a day of fun, imagination and creativity, focusing on making books inclusive of, and accessible for, everyone (you can read the full Inclusive Minds post on the event here).

I spent the afternoon with children drawing on a giant canvas and helping them to put themselves in to picture books. One girl even put me in to my book! Later in the afternoon, an excellent panel discussion with Sue Baker (Child's Play), Jane Ray (illustrator) and Fen Coles (Letterbox Library), chaired by Zara Todd provided lots of thought provoking discussion around what is 'normal' in children's books. The event was super busy and great fun was had by all. As an illustrator, it was an invaluable day for me to be a part of and one which has already had a profound impact on the way I approach my work. Thank you Inclusive Minds!

3 X 3 Annual 10

I have just received an electronic version of 3X3 Annual 10 and it looks ace! The print copy is coming out soon too. The work I have in it seems old now but it is a real honour to be included. Check out this year's call for entries.

Confiscation Cabinets

Guy Tarrant's Confiscation Cabinets at the Museum of Childhood is a fascinating selection of artefacts, confiscated from school children over the past three decades. It includes everything from weapons to home made playing cards. If you fancy a trip down memory lane, go take a look!
